I am thankful that I struggled

When I learned my first step as a child

It taught me balance

And awareness of space

It gave me my first joy

Of success and accomplishment

I am thankful that I struggled

When I learned to read and write

For in doing so, it gave me

A window for knowledge and stirred my curiosity

Of the world around me

Its nature and surrounding beauty

I am thankful that I struggled

To understand what life is all about

Why pain and distress exist

It gave me reason to use

My thinking and reasoning

And experience the goodness within me

Struggles and challenges in life

Brought out the best within me

Oh, what a boring life it would be

If I can’t use my eyes, hands and feet

To create, to see, to realize my highest good

And discover what my mind can perceive and achieve

Struggles, Struggles

Let’s face them and enjoy what it can do

It will surely polish our potential

Build our character and brings out the best in us

It gives meaning to our lives

Joy of knowing and reaching the highest good in us
