I am your PAST.

You are

WHAT you are today

And you are

WHERE you are today

because of how you designed me yesterday

through your choices, decisions and actions.

If you are now experiencing some of the pains of

shame, guilt, low self-identity, legal problems,

financial difficulties and social/family rejections,

it is because you designed me without guidelines and structures

of principles and virtues.

Vital necessities in leading a joyful and peaceful life..

If this is the case,

My Marching Order to you is to CHANGE.

I am your past, I am you Yesterday.

You can’t easily change me

for I have roots in your life like a tree,

that you need to unearth,

to give room to a new seed of attitude Today

and  make a difference in your life Tomorrow.

If you are not happy and satisfied

With Who you are and Where you are today,

You have power in your hands to make a choice:

To continue old behavior and reap the same result or even worse,

OR, follow my Marching Order to change

And adapt to new ways of thinking and behaving

To reap the joy of living according to the law of nature

“YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW”

In the process of taking new directions,

Please remember, my stains in your life will be hurting you in the present.

But if you are committed to a new life,

You will be patient and desirous to learn new information

on how to be proactive and productive person.

Be consistent and do what is right.

Learn from me and listen to my

Marching Order,

“CHANGE”

I wrote this poem after having witnessed many times clients being pulled back to prison from their temporary placement in the halfway house. The halfway house is a place where inmates stay preparatory to their release back to society. Also, I was touched when a young man, a neighbor was murdered.
