As I look up to the sky
I see the slow movement of the clouds
Giving me the better view of what is behind
The mountain that captivated my heart
With its awesome beauty
And unbelievable art of nature

Isn’t life the same way?
There will be big and small events in our lives
That will come and go like clouds in the sky
But what is behind the big and small events
Is the personhood of who you are
Your values, principles, visions and aspirations in life
The mountain within you

Have you ever asked your self
What you will allow to pass you by and let it go
And what you will grasp to keep in your heart
To make it part of the wholeness of who you are
That others can see and experience what you can share
Your love, compassion, respect, patience and understanding
The mountain within you

Many of life’s clouds in our life
Are truly overwhelming and seems unbearable
A radiating pain that seems to continually pinch and cut our heart
But we do have a choice to start building our life
Make God, the Almighty Power
The creator of joy, peace, justice and happiness
Your light unto your path
The mountain within you

My husband, Fr. Anthony Pascaretta (OSB) and I went to Monastery of Mary in the Wilderness Stevenville, Montana to visit Bishop Anthony Curley and Deacon Bro. Martin Pritchard. At the same time my husband received his temporary vows and was installed as Vicar General of the Order.

As we go through the days of our stay I was deeply inspired and spiritually touched by the surrounding beauty and the opportunity to meet Bishop Anthony Curley and Deacon Bro. Martin Andrew, this poem is dedicated to them, my husband, my children, family and to all people who will be touched by the Holy Spirit, the limitless, immeasurable and unfathomable mountain one can have in their heart.
